I thought this walking stage was going to take a while. I thought it would take some time from when she was able to stand on her own and pull up to her taking some steps by herself. When this video was taken she had only been walking for a day or two. Like most kids, her first steps were to us as we encouraged her to walk to us. I assumed it would take several days to several weeks for her to just turn around and walk to something of her own interest with no prompting from us. I was wrong. She stood up and walked to her toy box or something else of hers the next day. But I knew she would only be taking only a few steps at a time until she got this walking thing down. Again, I was wrong. In less than 10 days, Addie has gone from taking a couple of baby steps to walking from room to room on her own. She already walks around toys on the floor and can change directions on a dime. It might be a little too close to call, but she has already almost made walking her primary mode of transportation around the house. Maybe my expectations were a little low, but I just thought this walking stuff was going to take a lot longer. Let's hope talking is not as fast.

As you can see by the other video, this video is just a bit outdated already. We apologize about our tardiness.

Addie likes to hang out in the office and help us on the computer. She usually rifles through the drawers and chews on something inappropriate.

Addie sometimes finds it funny to spit her baby food back out and all over herself. We don't find this as funny as she does.

March Snow..go figure.

Who would have guessed that we would have snow in March in Memphis. Actually it is probably not all that uncommon. I checked Saturday's weather forecast because I was planning on a long run sometime that day. According to weather.com I had only a couple hours in the morning after it stopped raining to get my run in. That afternoon there was a chance of some snow showers...yeah right. As it turns out I finished my run about 15 minutes before another wave of cold rain hit us. It soon turned into a mix of sleet and rain. We were excited but I still thought that would be about the extent of our winter weather. A while later the rain portion of that mix turned into some big wet snow flakes. As the day went on, the temperature got colder and the snow got drier...but it kept on falling.

Here you see Amos playing with his soccer ball in the snow. Just like a little kid, Amos loves to play in the snow. In fact, he got me up about 5 times during the night to go play. Thanks Amos.
Mommy braved the cold just long enough to snap a few shots of Addie and daddy playing in the snow early in the afternoon.
The snow is only about an inch deep at this point. Surely we weren't getting more than an inch.
Here is mommy and Addie on our walk this morning. Apparently it snowed most of the night. We ended up with about 8 inches of nice powdery snow.


This is a bit of a rare photo from Memphis, TN. The temperature was well below freezing at this point even though the sun was out. Usually day 2 doesn't look this pretty. The footprints in front of our house are from our young neighbors next door. They must not see snow too much either. They were up late last night playing around in the winter wonderland.

Addie will be 9 months old on Monday. How the time has flown! She has 4 teeth and is cutting another one. She is crawling everywhere and pulling up on anything or anyone in her path. She weighs 17lbs. I'm not sure how long she is. We'll find out on Monday when she goes for her checkup. Here are some pictures from the last couple weeks.

Way Behind in Updating the Blog

OK, so I'll be the first to admit that we have been horrible about updating the blog lately. Addie is sick today so I stayed home with her. I have already caught up on work emails and she is still taking a nap, so I actually have a few minutes to post some pictures. Those few minutes are rare these days as all you mothers know.

Addie has been very busy these last few weeks. She is crawling now. She started really going everywhere when we got home from the holidays in Paducah. She is already pulling up on the couch and Mommy's legs. Her most favorite thing to do is still walking (while holding someone's hands). If only we could teach Amos how to walk her around! Her second most favorite thing is eating puffs. She gets so excited when you get the container out!

Anyway, hope everyone enjoys these pictures. You might not see anymore for a little while!

Christmas Time!!

Granna got Addie some Keens. They were actually for Palmer...I think...but they didn't fit. Either way, Addie will get a lot of use out of them this summer.
